    How to prepare for the IMC

    Study the case closely, both the prosecution and defence sides.
    Your presentation must be in English!

    On what criteria will I be assessed?

    Presentation styles, defence or prosecution
    Good use of language
    Clarity of the argument
    How you respond to judges’ questions
    Persuasiveness of the arguments
    Understanding of the case

    Costs & Expenses

    Costs and expenses that each participating team should take into account:

    1. The participating team, chaperones and coaches pay their own travel expenses. These include: travel costs from home address to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and vice versa.
    2. Meals on Sunday 21 January and on the day of departure, Saturday 27 January 2018, are not provided by the IMC organisation.

    The IMC organisation will cover the expenses for:

    Transportation from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Novotel The Hague and vice versa.
    Transportation to the Peace Palace for the finals.
    Lunches and dinners during the week.
    3 nights hotel.

    Travel arrangements

    Visa Application Process

    Students requiring a visa to come to The Netherlands should write to the IMC Office providing the following passport information: name as written in passport, date of birth, nationality, passport number and date of issue/expiration. Please also include the (email) address of the visa department of the Dutch Embassy or Consulate where you will apply for your visa.

    Please try and send the information of all students/teachers requiring a visa in one single document, as this greatly speeds up the process. Please make sure that we have your information on time because the process may take a while. Upon receipt of the information, the IMC office will send a formal invitation letter to the applicants with a copy to the Embassy/Consulate.

    Airport Transfer

    IMC offers a pick-up service to and from Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport to the NOVOTEL. The pickup service is put in motion once your registration for the IMC has been confirmed and your flight number is known at
    IMC organisation.

    We have reserved rooms for IMC participants at the NOVOTEL Den Haag City Centre and Novotel Suites.

    Participation in the International Moot Court competition is by invitation only.

    New teams interested in participating: please contact the IMC Office by sending the application to: jrcinfo@schools.nyc.gov (see Practicalities & Forms for the application form).

    We have a maximum number of teams that may participate. The closing date for application is 1 August 2017.

    IMC Press team

    We ask students to participate in a Press team to make a daily report for the International Moot Court. If you are interested in joining the press team, please sign up by using this form. Applications for the press team must be sent to the IMC organisation by 1 January 2018.

    We provide food and drinks during the IMC.
